Bollywood Echoes helps to promote traditional and contemporary asian entertainment
On 31st July Bollywood Echoes band were invited to perform at a venue in Lake District in Cumbria This was for a Sangeet evening preceding the marriage of bride Jesal and groom Richard. Jesal has an English mother and Indian father so she wanted her quests to have a traditional Indian as well as a contemporary Bollywood experience for her and Richards side of the family. The majority of guests were from a European English origin.. It was a very colourful scene with the backdrop of the hills and lake in addition to the traditional Indian dress that all the english guests were wearing.
At the start of the evening our Compere Hansa explained the history behind the traditional garba dances and encouraged all the guests to join it which they did. The same happened for the dandiya stick dance. This was followed by a bollywood dance performance by Susan, Jesals mother and her family to ‘London thumakda’ from the film Queen. This was received with much appreciation and cheers from the audience. After the traditional gift giving ceremony the guests enjoyed more dancing this time to Bhangra and rail gaddi.
The finale to the evening was everyone joining in with Susan and her family to another performance of ‘London thumkda’ not just with the singing but dancing as well. It was an amazing evening.. We would like to thank Mr Dinesh and Susan Mehta , Jim and Fiona Morrison, Hari, Jesal and Richard for giving us the opportunity to meet their warm and friendly family and fun loving guests who joined in with all the dances and activities making it a truly memorable evening for all.Share:
